About

Melissa is a woman who has lived a life with a mental illness that has caused her to carefully navigate through this world not only in the work force but in personal relationships. The stigma of mental health is not something new to her, and her tragedies at the hands of her mental illness, and the recent passing of her person, her mom, has inspired her to choose blogging as a method of self healing. Her recent experiences with a mental illness combined with the tragedy of her Mom’s passing also has sparked a passion to help others know they are not alone, either in their own mental illness or in their grief. She knows the combination of the two, can cause very scary and conflicting feelings to arise. Writing has been a true form of self care for Melissa, but she has been approached by many whom have asked her to allow her words to be seen and read by others who may need encouragement in these areas. She is not a professional counselor, she is an Occupational Therapy Assistant who’s passion has been to help others with mental illnesses. Her true motivation for creating this safe space to write, read and comment, is her Mother. She feels the closest to her Mamabear when she writes to her, for her and about her, be it current or past life experiences. She is delighted to begin this new season of her life, stepping into the reality that is her life without her Mama, yet knowing her Mom is with her every step of the way.

“And just as the Phoenix rose from the ashes, she too will rise. Returning from the flames, clothed in nothing but her strength, more beautiful than ever before.”
